National Poetry Month: April 5

It’s Friday, and today I am thinking peaches. Yes, that’s right! A fruit not yet in season here in Wisconsin, but yesterday we had 60 degreee temperatures, and so, sweet, succulent peaches are ripening around the corner!

Today I read Li-Young Lee’s “From Blossoms” which I dedicate to my dear poet friend Rachel Heimowitz, who adores Li-Young and turned me on to his poetry last year during “Truth & Beauty” at  Carter Hall. Her exuberance for poets and poetry is infectious! Also, I would be re-miss if I didn’t mention another amazing poet and friend, Judith Zukerman, with whom I always associate peaches & poems.

What is your source of joy today? What brings you the same exciting fulfillment as biting into a succulent peach?
